Our assignment involved the smashing of refineries. German reconnaissance planes were over very early in the morning. One of these days we will learn why. An enemy attack on gasoline dumps in Taranto harbor is not impossible. There are two PBY&#8217;s now based at this field. The &#8220;cats&#8221; are huge, ungainly craft but are eminently airworthy.
